The German symphonic metal band launch the title track as Eclipse arrives on August 7, 2026, following Rockum’s exclusive interview with founder and songwriter Marco Heubaum.
Xandria have released the official video for “Eclipse,” the title track from their new studio album, which arrives today, August 7, 2026, through Napalm Records.
The song brings together the different sides of vocalist Ambre Vourvahis’ performance, moving between restrained melodic passages, rock vocals, growls and operatic singing. Heavy guitars and orchestral arrangements support a composition built around the image of an eclipse and the temporary disappearance of light.
Band founder, guitarist and principal songwriter Marco Heubaum described “Eclipse” as a fast and heavy song centered on resistance rather than surrender.
“Eclipse is fast, heavy and full of fire,” Heubaum said. “The sun represents the light of civilisation, while the moon slowly moves in front of it and leaves the world in darkness.”
He explained that the song transforms that image into a musical confrontation, with Vourvahis shifting between rock, operatic and extreme vocal styles. Its central message is that darkness should not be accepted as a permanent condition.
The release follows Rockum’s recent exclusive conversation with the Xandria founder. In Xandria: Marco Heubaum on Eclipse, Songwriting and 30 Years of the Band — Exclusive Interview with Gino Alache, Heubaum discussed the creation of the album, his songwriting process and the evolution of the German band across more than three decades.
A More Direct and Cinematic Xandria Album
Eclipse contains eleven songs and follows The Wonders Still Awaiting, the 2023 album that introduced Xandria’s current lineup and reached No. 9 on the Official German Album Charts.
While that record represented a new beginning, Eclipse moves toward a more direct lyrical approach. The album addresses contemporary social and political concerns through themes involving reason, empathy, democracy and the pressures facing modern civilization.
Musically, the record combines traditional heavy metal riffs, modern low-tuned guitars, orchestral arrangements, Celtic instrumentation, electronic elements and quieter rock passages. Heubaum, who composed the material, has cited film music and composers including Hans Zimmer and John Williams among his continuing influences.
Rockum previously covered the album’s development through the release of “The Shannon’s Home” and the original Eclipse album announcement, followed by the videos for “Colours” and “Northstar.”
Xandria were also featured alongside Tarja, Lex Legion, Accept, Europe and Voivod on Gino Alache’s Rockum Radio Show on CFRC 101.9 FM.
Guests and Orchestral Collaborators
Subway to Sally violinist Ally Storch appears on “Lore,” while McAlbi contributes Celtic tin and low whistles to “The Shannon’s Home,” “Northstar,” “Masquerade” and “Lore.”
“The Last Generation” features a children’s choir and piano performed by Richard Z. Wang, a pianist who has worked at Hans Zimmer’s studio.
Xandria also continued their collaboration with the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir. The orchestral arrangements were created by film composers Lukas Geppert and Ishaan Tyagi.
