Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson return to their hometown during the Fifty Something Tour, with all four Scotiabank Arena concerts expected to be captured for future use
Rush will film all four of their hometown Toronto shows during the Fifty Something Tour for a possible concert film.
According to the report, the band will capture each of the sold-out Scotiabank Arena performances in its entirety, documenting a milestone week in the band’s history and creating footage that may be used for a future concert film.
The Toronto run takes place on August 7, August 9, August 11 and August 13, 2026, bringing Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson back to the city where Rush began.
The decision to film in Toronto carries obvious historical weight.
For Rush, the hometown shows are not only part of the Fifty Something Tour, but also a return to the band’s own origin point. The concerts are being treated as a major archive moment for the band, with multiple nights allowing the crew to capture a broader version of the tour’s rotating setlist.
Geddy Lee said Toronto became the natural choice because of the limited number of cities on the tour, the demand from fans and the emotional importance of filming the band’s hometown run.
“It’s always a hard decision as to where to film a live concert,” Lee said. “Given the limited cities we are able to play, the demand for such a film has been off the charts, not only as a keepsake of their experience, but for those many fans that have not been able to see it live. Toronto being hometown made it a natural choice, and being the last mini-residency of four shows, playing over 40 songs, which gives us the best chance to capture it all.”
Lee also connected the filming to the emotional character of the tour and the memory of late Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.
“We know there are fans traveling here from all across the globe, and that will make it a special week,” Lee said. “This tour, being a celebration of our history and a tribute to Neil, has been an emotional outpouring from the fans and from us.”
He added that the band hopes to capture the energy of the audience during the Toronto shows.
“They have been louder and prouder than ever before, and we hope to capture them letting their ya-yas out while rockin’ their best ‘Tom Sawyer’ air drum fills!”
A representative said the band will explore how to use the concert footage.
That language is important: the Toronto shows are being filmed, but the final form of the project has not yet been confirmed. The footage could become a concert film, but the announcement frames it as a possible future release rather than a completed product with a title or release date.
The proposed project would also mark the directorial debut of Allen Weinrib, brother of Geddy Lee. Weinrib previously produced Rush projects including Rush: R40 Live, the concert film documenting the band’s final tour with Neil Peart in 2015.
The Fifty Something Tour marks the first Rush tour activity in 11 years.
The tour brings together Geddy Lee on bass, keyboards and vocals, and Alex Lifeson on guitar and vocals, with drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold joining the live lineup.
The tour celebrates more than five decades of Rush music and honors the life and legacy of Neil Peart.
Rush began the tour in June 2026 with four shows at Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the same venue where the band played the final show of the R40 Tour with Peart on August 1, 2015.

Several Rush-related events are taking place around the band’s hometown run.
The fourth annual Rush Day takes place on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Henderson Brewery in Toronto. The event includes an official merchandise pop-up shop, limited-edition beer, a pinball tournament and Rush karaoke.
RushCon also returns to Toronto during the same period. The convention begins with a pre-event social at The Loose Moose before moving to El Mocambo for a full day of guest speakers, a charity auction and fan programming.
Drummer Anika Nilles is also scheduled for an in-store signing at Long & McQuade during the Toronto run.
The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame will also host Rock The Rush Hall in partnership with RushCon from September 17 to September 20, 2026.
The museum programming will include newly displayed Rush artifacts from Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, archival footage connected to the band’s 2013 Rock Hall induction, educational programming, Rush jams with the Rock Hall house band The Mechanics, Rush music throughout the museum and special merchandise.
The Rush activity continues into the fall with a new Canadian Broadcasting Corporation documentary on Neil Peart.
Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple, created by Banger Films, is scheduled to premiere on September 23, 2026 as part of CBC’s The Passionate Eye. The documentary explores Peart through archival footage, interviews and live performance material.
The film includes interviews with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, along with reflections from other drummers. It also features Lee and Lifeson performing Rush classics with Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stewart Copeland of The Police and Danny Carey of Tool.
The Toronto filming comes at a sensitive and historic point in Rush’s story.
The Fifty Something Tour is not a normal reunion cycle. It is a celebration of the band’s catalog, a return to the stage for Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, and a tribute to Neil Peart, whose absence defines the emotional frame of the tour.
