The country crossover hit becomes the fourth-longest-leading No. 1 in Hot 100 history, while Ariana Grande places two petal songs inside the top five
Ella Langley has reached a major U.S. chart milestone, with Billboard reporting that “Choosin’ Texas” has spent a 17th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The result makes “Choosin’ Texas” the sole fourth-longest-leading No. 1 single in the history of the Hot 100, a chart that dates back to August 1958.
For Rockum, the story belongs to the wider music industry picture: country’s crossover power, Hot 100 history, radio growth, streaming strength, digital sales and the commercial weight of the U.S. singles market.
“Choosin’ Texas” first reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February and has now extended its run to 17 weeks at the top.
According to Billboard, the song earned 24.9 million official U.S. streams, 54.5 million radio airplay audience impressions and 9,000 sales during the tracking week of July 31 through August 6.
The track also continues to lead across multiple Billboard charts. It rises to a 17th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, climbs to a 14th week at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales and holds strong on Radio Songs after previously reaching No. 4.
That combination explains why the song has stayed alive at the top: it is not relying on one metric. It continues to perform across streaming, sales and radio.
With 17 weeks at No. 1, “Choosin’ Texas” now stands among the longest-leading hits in Billboard Hot 100 history.
The updated list includes:
22 weeks — “All I Want For Christmas Is You” — Mariah Carey
19 weeks — “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” — Shaboozey
19 weeks — “Old Town Road” — Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus
17 weeks — “Choosin’ Texas” — Ella Langley
16 weeks — “Last Night” — Morgan Wallen
16 weeks — “Despacito” — Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber
16 weeks — “One Sweet Day” — Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men
That position gives Ella Langley one of the most significant chart runs of the modern era, especially for a song that began in the country world and crossed into broader pop visibility.
The success of “Choosin’ Texas” also shows the continued strength of country music in the American mainstream.
The song remains No. 1 on Hot Country Songs for a 35th week, making it the third-longest-leading song in that chart’s history.
It trails only “Meant To Be” by Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line, and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey.
The track also spends a 10th week at No. 1 on Songs Of The Summer, adding another seasonal and cultural layer to its chart story.
The Billboard report also gives Ella Langley another rare achievement.
With “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and “I Can’t Love You Anymore”, her collaboration with Morgan Wallen, reaching No. 1 on Country Airplay, Langley becomes only the third artist to top both charts at the same time with different songs.
She is also the first woman to accomplish that specific feat since Country Airplay began in January 1990.
The previous examples involved Morgan Wallen in 2025 and Lonestar in 2000.
The same Hot 100 week also gives Ariana Grande two songs inside the top five.
“Hate That I Made You Love Me” rebounds to No. 2 after previously debuting at No. 1, while “petal” enters at No. 4.
The movement arrives as petal launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Grande her seventh chart-topping album.
Together, the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 results show Grande controlling both singles and albums conversation during the same chart cycle.
The Billboard Hot 100 remains one of the clearest public measures of commercial reach in the U.S. singles market.
This week’s chart shows two major industry stories happening at the same time.
The first is Ella Langley turning a country single into one of the longest-running No. 1 songs in Hot 100 history.
The second is Ariana Grande extending the album cycle for petal with two songs inside the Hot 100 top five.
For Rockum’s wider music culture coverage, that matters because the American market continues to shape global music visibility. Country, pop, streaming, radio, digital sales, album variants and chart records are all part of the same industry machine.

As a U.S. chart story, “Choosin’ Texas” is no longer just a country hit. Its 17th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 places Ella Langley inside one of the most exclusive areas of modern chart history, beside names such as Mariah Carey, Shaboozey, Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Morgan Wallen, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Justin Bieber and Boyz II Men. For Rockum, the milestone points to the bigger picture: country crossover power, American chart dominance, streaming durability, radio momentum and the kind of song that becomes part of the year’s commercial soundtrack.
