The veteran American rock band brings The Cars and ’80s New Wave influences into its latest visual as Touch And Go continues its 2026 run across digital, CD and 180-gram colored vinyl
Collective Soul have released the official video for “Eye On You,” a track from their latest album, Touch And Go, as the band continues an extensive 2026 North American headlining tour.
Released on August 13, 2026, the video reflects the nostalgic atmosphere surrounding a record that draws inspiration from The Cars and the wider sound of 1980s New Wave.
Touch And Go received its wide release on July 31 through Collective Soul’s Fuzze-Flex Records, with physical distribution through AMPED Distribution and digital distribution through Virgin Music Group.
The 10-song album had originally appeared earlier in 2026 as part of Record Store Day and is now available digitally, on CD and as a 180-gram teal-marble colored vinyl edition.
“Eye On You” is the second track on Touch And Go and brings one of the album’s clearest retro influences into focus.
Collective Soul approached the record with the sound of The Cars and ’80s New Wave in mind, surrounding the band’s familiar guitars, melodies and harmonies with keyboards, synthesizers and production textures associated with that era.
The accompanying video continues that nostalgic direction visually, giving the song another connection to the period that helped inspire the album.
The influence represents a different turn for a group best known for a catalog established during the alternative and mainstream rock explosion of the 1990s.
More than 30 years into their career, Collective Soul did not build Touch And Go simply by recreating the sound of their biggest records.
Instead, the band looked toward an earlier generation of American rock and New Wave.
The Cars provide one of the clearest reference points, particularly through the combination of guitar-driven songwriting, electronic textures and melodic arrangements.
That influence exists alongside Collective Soul’s own musical identity rather than replacing it.
The result gives Touch And Go a different character while maintaining the songwriting approach that has connected the band’s catalog across three decades.
Touch And Go had an unusual path into the marketplace.
The album was initially introduced as part of Record Store Day 2026, placing new Collective Soul music directly into independent record stores and the physical-media market.
The July 31 release then expanded the record to digital services, CD and a 180-gram teal-marble vinyl edition.
That gives the album both a collector component and a conventional modern release cycle, moving from the specialized Record Store Day audience into broader physical and digital distribution.
For Collective Soul, it also continues an independent model centered around the band’s own Fuzze-Flex Records while working with AMPED and Virgin Music Group for wider distribution.
The physical edition remains part of the identity of Touch And Go.
Alongside CD availability, the album is offered on 180-gram teal-marble colored vinyl, extending the physical-media story that began with its Record Store Day appearance.
For collectors of Collective Soul, that gives a completely new studio album a physical release strategy more commonly associated with catalog titles and special editions.
Rather than treating vinyl as an afterthought, the format has been part of the album campaign from the beginning.
Collective Soul emerged nationally during the 1990s and went on to build a catalog led by songs including “Shine,” “December” and “The World I Know.”
The band reports worldwide album sales exceeding 15 million, with six Gold or Platinum albums and seven No. 1 singles across its career.
