The Sound of Vinyl marks 50 years of Rush’s 1976 breakthrough with a black liquid-filled LP, special die-cut sleeve and a U.S. run limited to 3,000 copies
Rush are marking the 50th anniversary of 2112 with a limited black liquid-filled vinyl edition of the landmark 1976 album.
The new pressing is limited to 3,000 copies in the United States and is currently offered through The Sound of Vinyl for $89.98, with purchases limited to four copies per customer.
Inspired by the original 2112 artwork, the collector edition is housed in a specially designed sleeve with a die-cut opening that allows the liquid-filled record itself to remain visible as part of the presentation.
This is not simply another colored pressing of 2112.
The main collector feature is the black liquid-filled vinyl construction, combined with packaging designed specifically to display the disc through the front sleeve.
The edition was initially available in person at UMusic Shop NY in July 2026, while Rush brought the Fifty Something Tour to Madison Square Garden.
It has since moved to online availability through The Sound of Vinyl, which identifies the pressing as strictly limited to 3,000 U.S. copies.

2112 was originally released on April 1, 1976 and was Rush’s fourth studio recording.
The album became the breakthrough release in the band’s early career, built around its side-long title composition and the increasingly ambitious writing of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart. Rush again worked with producer Terry Brown on the record.
The title suite occupies the complete first side and runs through seven sections:

The Temples of Syrinx
Discovery
Presentation
Oracle
Soliloquy
Grand Finale
Side two returns to individual songs including “A Passage to Bangkok,” “The Twilight Zone,” “Lessons,” “Tears” and “Something for Nothing.”
The liquid-filled edition also has a specific place inside Rush’s 2026 activity.
Before appearing online, copies were sold in person at UMusic Shop NY during the band’s July visit to New York for the Fifty Something Tour at Madison Square Garden.
Rush’s current tour marks the return of Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson to touring together after the conclusion of the R40 Tour in 2015.
That timing places the 50th anniversary pressing inside a year in which the Rush catalog and the band’s live history are both receiving renewed attention.

The current The Sound of Vinyl listing does not specify the vinyl weight, pressing plant, mastering source or whether a new remaster was created specifically for this edition.
