The September 18 album reunites Beck with musicians from Sea Change, Morning Phase and Mutations, with longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich returning to mix the record ahead of a North American tour
Beck has released “Disappearing Act,” the third advance track from his upcoming album Ride Lonesome, arriving September 18, 2026 via Capitol Records.
The 12-song record will be Beck’s first collection of entirely new material since 2019’s Hyperspace and reunites him with musicians connected to some of the most celebrated records in his catalog.
“Disappearing Act” was produced by Beck and mixed by Nigel Godrich, combining acoustic guitar and orchestration as the album campaign moves closer to its September release.
The song follows the title track “Ride Lonesome” and “In The Night,” making it the third preview of the album.
A major part of Ride Lonesome is the reunion of musicians who have worked with Beck across different periods of his career.
Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner reconvened with Beck at Room B at United Studios in Hollywood.
Those musicians have connections to albums including Mutations, Sea Change and Morning Phase, while Godrich - who previously worked with Beck on Mutations and Sea Change - returned to mix the new album.
Beck describes the sessions as familiar without simply trying to recreate his past.
“While we were revisiting a musical and physical place, it also felt like we were finding new sounds and emotional textures along the way.”
Ride Lonesome follows Hyperspace, released in November 2019.
Rather than continuing that album’s more electronic direction, the material released so far from Ride Lonesome reconnects Beck with the acoustic, orchestral and atmospheric side of his catalog associated with albums such as Sea Change and Morning Phase.
The latter became one of Beck’s biggest critical successes, winning Album of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
The connection, however, is not only stylistic. Much of the personnel that helped shape those earlier recordings is physically back in the studio with him for the new album.

The album will be available on CD and vinyl, including a standard black LP and a Cloud White edition through Beck’s official store.
Beck will begin the Ride Lonesome Tour on September 16 in Vancouver, two days before the album is released.
The tour runs across Canada and the United States through October 31, with stops including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Red Rocks, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn and Washington, D.C.

Ride Lonesome is notable not simply because it ends a long gap between collections of new Beck material.
The album reconnects him with a group of musicians and a studio environment associated with several distinct stages of his catalog while bringing Nigel Godrich back into the creative circle.
“Disappearing Act” provides a third look at that reunion ahead of an album release and North American tour arriving almost simultaneously in September.
With “Disappearing Act,” Beck continues to reveal Ride Lonesome one song at a time while reconnecting with collaborators whose history with him stretches through Mutations, Sea Change and Morning Phase.
The new album arrives September 18, two days after Beck begins a North American tour that will keep him on the road through the end of October.
