The global catalog update brings new milestones for “I Will Always Love You,” “Islands in the Stream” with Kenny Rogers, “Coat of Many Colors” and dozens of albums across international markets
Dolly Parton has added 82 new global sales certifications to her catalog, with albums and singles reaching Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum and Diamond status across markets around the world.
Among the biggest new milestones, “Jolene” has reached Diamond status in Canada and the Netherlands, while “9 to 5” is now Diamond in Canada.
The certification update also includes new awards for “I Will Always Love You,” “Islands in the Stream” with Kenny Rogers, “Coat of Many Colors,” “Here You Come Again” and numerous albums and greatest-hits collections.
The new batch follows the 47 international Gold and Platinum certifications Parton celebrated in January 2022, showing continued consumption of a catalog whose best-known recordings stretch back several decades.
The most important part of the new certifications is not simply the number of plaques.
They demonstrate how an established music catalog can continue accumulating measurable commercial activity long after its original release cycle has ended.
“Jolene”, originally released in 1973, is among the clearest examples.

The song also received Gold certifications in additional markets including Germany, Spain, Greece and Mexico.
In Canada, Diamond certification for a single currently represents 800,000 certified units, calculated through eligible sales and streaming consumption.
Parton’s “9 to 5” has also reached Diamond status in Canada as part of the new international update.
The song additionally adds major certifications across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Norway and other territories.
“9 to 5” has maintained a particularly durable position in Parton’s catalog since its original 1980 release, moving from soundtrack and radio hit to a recording that continues to generate consumption through digital sales and streaming.
Its Canadian Diamond award places it alongside “Jolene” as one of the largest individual milestones in the new certification batch.
Another major part of the update comes through Parton’s recordings with Kenny Rogers.
“Islands in the Stream” has received new certifications including:

3x Platinum - United Kingdom
Platinum - Netherlands
Platinum - Denmark
Platinum - Austria
The catalog strength extends to the album Once Upon a Christmas, Parton and Rogers’ 1984 holiday collaboration.
The album is included in the newly presented certifications at 7x Platinum in Canada, along with additional awards in Norway and South Africa.
For catalog business, that is a particularly useful example of how collaborative recordings can continue generating value independently of either artist’s current release schedule.
Parton’s original recording of “I Will Always Love You” also receives several new international certifications.

Written and originally recorded by Parton decades before Whitney Houston’s later interpretation became a global phenomenon, the song remains one of the most commercially durable compositions associated with Parton’s catalog.

Parton’s albums and compilations also received new Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum awards in multiple countries.

Greatest-hits packages make up a significant portion of the new album certifications, another indication that consumption of Parton’s best-known recordings continues across generations and territories.
Parton received 47 new Gold and Platinum certifications from around the world in the previous major presentation announced in January 2022.
That earlier update included certifications from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden.
The new group of 82 therefore represents another substantial expansion of the documented international performance of her catalog.
Rather than reflecting the commercial cycle of one current album, the awards are distributed across recordings from different decades of Parton’s career.
The certification announcement coincided with another recognition of Parton’s songwriting career.
On August 19, Parton received the ACM Poet’s Award during the 19th ACM Honors at The Pinnacle in Nashville.
Parton accepted through a video message and described songwriting as the creative foundation of her life and career.
The ceremony also included a Dolly tribute, with hosts Carly Pearce and Parker McCollum performing “Islands in the Stream,” while Pearce joined Kaitlin Butts and Carter Faith for “9 to 5.”
Another major songwriting honor is still ahead.
Rockum recently reported that Parton will receive the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Americana Honors & Awards on September 16 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

That recognition specifically centers on the songwriting and recording legacy behind songs such as “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You.”
The 82 certifications provide a measurable look at something often described much more vaguely as “legacy.”

At 80, Dolly Parton is receiving awards for what she has contributed to songwriting history while the numbers behind her catalog show that audiences are still actively consuming the music.
