Reba McEntire is turning the 50th anniversary of her music career into a catalog strategy built around new recordings, streaming and five decades of songs and she says the timing could hardly be better.

“The catalog business is booming right now,” McEntire told Billboard while discussing the monthly series of themed EPs she has been releasing throughout 2026.

The latest installment arrived August 21, with Tourist – EP spotlighting Grammy-winning songwriter Brandy Clark. The five-track release is McEntire’s fifth music capsule of the year and is available through MCA.

Rather than simply repackaging greatest hits, the concept pairs one newly recorded song with four selections from McEntire’s existing catalog, organized around a particular theme or songwriting connection.

For an artist celebrating half a century of recorded music, the approach turns anniversary nostalgia into an ongoing release schedule designed to bring older songs back into circulation.

The new Tourist capsule is entirely built around songs written or co-written by Brandy Clark.

Clark is credited on all five tracks, including the newly recorded title song, which she co-wrote with Jeremy Spillman and Travis Meadows.

The recording of “Tourist” was produced by Buddy Cannon and Reba McEntire.

McEntire has described Clark as one of her favorite songwriters, telling Billboard that the songs Clark has sent or written for her consistently connect with her emotionally.

The EP reconnects that songwriting relationship with recordings drawn from different points in McEntire’s catalog.

McEntire began the anniversary series in April, and Tourist follows four previous releases:

One Night in Tulsa – EP

Hurt Like That – EP

Ain’t Gonna Keep It Waitin’ – EP

Ring Ring – EP

Each capsule takes a newly recorded song and places it alongside four older tracks connected by a theme.

One Night in Tulsa, for example, focused on McEntire’s Oklahoma roots, while Ring Ring assembled songs built around telephone-related stories, including the earlier hit “Why Haven’t I Heard From You.”

The releases have been accompanied by curated streaming playlists designed to take listeners deeper into McEntire’s catalog.

Another playlist, The Continuation Of Reba, is scheduled to arrive September 1.

The project offers a useful look at how legacy artists can work with streaming without treating their catalog as a museum piece.

McEntire credited manager Justin McIntosh and MCA with developing the capsule concept. The strategy is designed not only for longtime country listeners, but also for audiences who may recognize McEntire through television, film or songs such as “Fancy” and “I’m a Survivor” without knowing the depth of her recorded catalog.

According to McIntosh, the team has seen listener increases and activity spikes as new EPs and playlists arrive, giving the catalog recurring moments of attention instead of relying on a single anniversary release.

That is the business argument behind the entire campaign: use a new recording as the entry point, then place older songs directly beside it.

Instead of asking a younger listener to search through 50 years of albums, the label delivers a five-song path into a particular part of Reba’s history.

Across her career, McEntire has accumulated 60 Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, including 24 No. 1s, according to Billboard.

Her career has also extended far beyond recorded music through television, film and Broadway, creating audiences that do not necessarily enter through country radio.

That crossover reach makes the 2026 catalog strategy particularly interesting: McEntire can potentially convert viewers who know her from projects such as Reba, Happy’s Place or The Voice into listeners exploring decades of recordings.

The model also works in both directions.

A new track gives McEntire a reason to appear in release feeds, editorial playlists, social media and music coverage.

The four older tracks packaged beside it then receive fresh exposure without requiring a conventional reissue or deluxe album.

At the same time, familiar catalog songs can give the newly recorded song an immediate context.

It is a different anniversary strategy from the traditional approach of releasing one box set or greatest-hits collection and moving on.

Instead, McEntire and MCA are creating repeated catalog events throughout the year.

Reba McEntire’s comment that “the catalog business is booming” goes well beyond her own anniversary.

Established recordings have become an increasingly active part of the streaming economy, where an old song can re-enter circulation through playlists, social media, television, film, viral moments or a new recording connected to the original catalog.

McEntire’s 2026 campaign shows one way artists and labels can actively create those moments themselves.

Rather than waiting for nostalgia to happen, the themed EPs give listeners a reason to revisit specific pieces of the catalog every month.

And by putting a songwriter like Brandy Clark at the center of Tourist, the series can also tell stories about songwriting, collaborators and individual eras rather than reducing a 50-year career to the same handful of greatest hits.

After five decades, Reba McEntire is not treating her catalog as finished business.

With Tourist becoming the fifth capsule in her 2026 anniversary campaign, newly recorded music is being used to reopen different corners of a career containing dozens of Billboard hits.

For McEntire, the underlying principle remains simple.

“You just got to keep recreating yourself.”

The songs may come from different decades, but the strategy around them is very much a product of the modern music business.
