The country crossover hit matches Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” for the longest Hot 100 reign by a non-holiday song, with only Mariah Carey’s seasonal record standing above them
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has reached one of the biggest milestones in Billboard Hot 100 history.
The country hit spends a 19th cumulative week at No. 1 on the chart dated August 29, 2026, tying the record for the longest reign ever by a non-holiday song. Only two other non-seasonal singles have reached 19 weeks at the summit: Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, in 2019, and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” in 2024.
The overall Hot 100 record remains with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has accumulated 22 weeks at No. 1 across multiple holiday seasons. For Langley, the new result means a song that first reached No. 1 in February has now moved from major country crossover success into the highest tier of the Hot 100’s history.

The distinction is important: Carey holds the overall record with a song that returns to the chart each Christmas season, while Langley, Shaboozey and Lil Nas X/Billy Ray Cyrus share the record among non-holiday releases.
If “Choosin’ Texas” remains at No. 1 for another week, it would move into sole possession of that non-holiday record.
Only one week ago, Rockum documented “Choosin’ Texas” reaching its 18th week at No. 1, when Langley was still one week away from matching Shaboozey and Lil Nas X. At that point, the song remained strong across streaming, radio and sales rather than relying on a single part of the U.S. market.
Rockum had previously followed the song at 17 weeks as well, when it had already moved ahead of the 16-week runs of “Last Night,” “Despacito” and “One Sweet Day.”
The 19th week now completes that climb to the non-holiday record rather than merely extending an already successful chart run.
“Choosin’ Texas” first reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 on the chart dated February 14, 2026, becoming Langley’s first leader on Billboard’s flagship all-genre singles ranking. Its path has not been confined to country radio.
Across its run, the single has led Billboard’s Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales and Hot Country Songs charts while also becoming a major all-format radio record. That combination has allowed it to remain competitive on a Hot 100 calculated from U.S. streaming, sales and radio airplay activity.
The crossover also reflects a wider change in the American market. Country music has occupied unprecedented territory near the top of the Hot 100 in 2026, including a week in which country songs filled the entire top five for the first time in the chart’s history. “Choosin’ Texas” has been at the center of that movement.
The song appears on Langley’s second studio album, Dandelion, released on April 10, 2026 through SAWGOD/Columbia Records. Langley’s official site and Columbia Records currently list the album as available.
“Choosin’ Texas” had already become a major hit before the album arrived, but its continued performance months later has extended the commercial life of the Dandelion campaign far beyond release week.
Its success has also developed alongside other Langley songs reaching the upper levels of Billboard’s rankings, further establishing 2026 as the point when her career moved beyond country-specific success into the broader U.S. mainstream.
For “Old Town Road” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” 19 weeks ultimately marked the end of their respective runs at No. 1.For “Choosin’ Texas,” the final number is not known yet.The song now shares the non-holiday record, meaning every additional week at No. 1 would create a new benchmark rather than simply add to an existing tie.
Mariah Carey’s 22-week overall record remains above it, but the immediate historical question has changed. Ella Langley is no longer chasing the longest non-holiday Hot 100 reign. She now owns a share of it.
“Choosin’ Texas” began its Hot 100 run as a country song crossing into the wider American market. Nineteen weeks at No. 1 have turned it into something considerably larger. The single now stands beside “Old Town Road” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” at the top of the Hot 100’s non-holiday history, while also documenting how dramatically country music’s position within the U.S. mainstream has changed during the streaming era. Whether the run ends at 19 weeks or continues, the record has already been reached.
For Ella Langley, “Choosin’ Texas” is no longer simply the biggest hit of her career. It is now tied for the longest-running non-holiday No. 1 single in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
