The country hit becomes only the second song in Hot 100 history to spend at least 20 weeks at No. 1, surpassing the 19-week runs of Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”
Ella Langley has moved from tying Billboard Hot 100 history to holding the record outright.
“Choosin’ Texas” spends a landmark 20th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated September 5, 2026, becoming the longest-leading non-holiday song in the chart’s 68-year history.
The achievement breaks the tie Langley established one week earlier with Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road,” both of which spent 19 weeks at No. 1.
Only one song has accumulated more weeks atop the Hot 100 overall: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has collected 22 weeks at No. 1 across multiple holiday seasons since first reaching the summit in 2019.
Rockum has followed the final stages of the record chase throughout August.
On August 11, “Choosin’ Texas” reached its 17th week at No. 1:

One week later, its 18th week moved Langley to within one week of the non-holiday record:

Then, on August 24, its 19th week tied the all-time non-holiday mark:

The 20th week now puts Langley alone in second place among every No. 1 song in Hot 100 history and first among all non-holiday releases.
For the August 21-27 tracking week, “Choosin’ Texas” generated 24.2 million official U.S. streams, reached 56.8 million radio audience impressions and sold 7,000 copies, according to Billboard and Luminate.
The single simultaneously spends its 20th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, making it only the third song to reach that threshold after Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.”
Its radio story is also still developing. “Choosin’ Texas” rises to new peaks of No. 4 on Adult Pop Airplay and No. 7 on Pop Airplay, after previously spending three weeks atop Country Airplay.
The song also extends its run to 38 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs and a 13th week atop Songs of the Summer.

The next historical question is now obvious: whether “Choosin’ Texas” can close the remaining two-week gap separating it from Carey’s overall Hot 100 record.
Whatever happens next, however, the non-holiday record no longer needs an asterisk or a tie.
At 20 weeks, it belongs to Ella Langley alone.
