Toy Story 5 Japanese Paper Jacket CD Features Taylor Swift's 'I Knew It, I Knew You,' Picture Disc and Poster Booklet

The Toy Story 5 soundtrack is getting a physical Japanese CD edition on September 25, 2026, and Universal Music Japan is giving the release considerably more collector appeal than a standard soundtrack disc.

The Japanese edition, catalog number UWCD-1151, comes in a paper jacket package with a picture-disc CD featuring Woody’s cowboy hat, a poster-style booklet and artwork built around Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. It is priced at ¥3,300 including tax.

Most importantly for current chart watchers, the CD opens with Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the original song she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff for the Disney-Pixar film.

Universal Music Japan says “I Knew It, I Knew You” was inspired by Jessie’s story in Toy Story 5 and describes the track as drawing Swift back toward her country roots while combining elements from different stages of her songwriting career.

The song has also become a substantial Billboard hit rather than simply a soundtrack cut.

It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 in June, giving the Toy Story 5 song an immediate worldwide chart presence.

Rockum later documented another major milestone when “I Knew It, I Knew You” gave Swift her record-extending 16th No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay chart:

The single also remains near the top of the U.S. Hot 100, sitting at No. 3 on the chart dated September 5, 2026.

That gives the Japanese CD a useful distinction for collectors: it places one of Swift’s biggest current singles at the beginning of a physical Disney soundtrack edition built specifically for the Japanese market.

The packaging is where the Japanese release becomes more interesting.

Universal describes the CD jacket as featuring illustrations inspired by Woody, Buzz and Jessie. Inside the paper jacket is imagery from the film, while the CD itself uses a picture-disc design based around Woody’s cowboy hat.

The included booklet unfolds into a poster-style format and contains the lyrics to “I Knew It, I Knew You” alongside additional illustrations.

The album contains 27 tracks: Swift’s song followed by 26 score pieces from Toy Story 5.

Universal Music Japan is also attaching several retailer-specific promotions to the release.

A common early-purchase bonus is an original clear file available in one of two random designs. Disney Music Emporium buyers can receive an original keychain while supplies last and enter drawings for 50 tote bags and 50 PC cases.

Other participating retailers have their own bonuses: the Disney Store lists a small accessory case, Universal Music Store an original stationery set, Tower Records a clear file plus a drawing for an original cap, and Amazon Japan a Mega Jacket. Availability is limited and varies by retailer.

The Japanese soundtrack arrives during an unusually visible period for “I Knew It, I Knew You.”

Swift has already taken the Toy Story 5 track across country, pop and international charts, while its connection to Jessie has also reinforced the country side of her career.

For collectors, however, the appeal here is straightforward: the Toy Story 5 soundtrack gets a dedicated Japanese physical edition while its Taylor Swift single is still one of the biggest songs on the charts.

The paper jacket, Woody picture disc, poster booklet and Japanese retailer extras give this release an identity beyond simply transferring the digital soundtrack to CD.
