Nicolas Roeg’s 1976 sci-fi classic returns Nov. 16 in the UK with a 4K UHD and Blu-ray set, a 100-page booklet, new documentary and extensive archival extras
David Bowie’s The Man Who Fell to Earth will receive a new 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition in the UK on November 16, 2026 through StudioCanal’s Vintage Classics line.
Directed by Nicolas Roeg and released in 1976, the science-fiction film marked Bowie’s feature-film acting debut, with the musician starring as Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien who arrives on Earth searching for water for his drought-stricken home planet. The film was adapted from the novel by Walter Tevis.
The new edition includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray discs alongside a substantial collection of physical material. The package features a 100-page booklet containing a new interview with Candy Clark, four art cards designed by Nick Neocleous, four photocards and four posters, including an exclusive reproduction of George Underwood’s artwork for the original Walter Tevis book release.
The video extras include a new 40-minute documentary, The Man Who Fell to Earth at 50: Bowie and Roeg, Aliens in America, plus interviews with May Routh, David James, Sam Taylor-Johnson, Michael Deeley, Candy Clark, Paul Mayersberg, Tony Richmond and Nic Roeg.
Also included is archival footage of David Bowie appearing on French television in 1977, along with additional featurettes and material examining the film’s production and legacy.
The 50th anniversary set adds another physical edition of a film that has been repeatedly revisited on home video, including earlier Blu-ray and 4K releases. This edition distinguishes itself primarily through its expanded collector packaging and newly produced anniversary material.
