The 1999 rock comedy starring Edward Furlong returns in a two-disc edition featuring new interviews, three audio commentaries and previously released bonus material
KISS fans will have another opportunity to revisit Detroit Rock City, the 1999 comedy inspired by the band's music and late-1970s rock culture, with a new two-disc 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray edition from Toy Robot Video.
The release is listed for December 15, 2026 by distributor MVD Entertainment Group, although Toy Robot's own online store currently displays a different release year.
Directed by Adam Rifkin, the film follows four teenage KISS fans in 1978 who attempt to reach Detroit for a concert after one of their mothers destroys their tickets. Their journey becomes a series of increasingly chaotic attempts to get into the show.
The film stars Edward Furlong, Sam Huntington, Giuseppe Andrews and James DeBello, alongside Lin Shaye, Melanie Lynskey and Natasha Lyonne. Originally released by New Line Cinema in August 1999, the movie also features music from KISS, AC/DC and Van Halen. The new release includes interviews with director Adam Rifkin, actress Lin Shaye and production designer Steve Hardie, alongside three separate audio commentaries featuring Rifkin, KISS, and members of the cast and crew.
Additional bonus material includes the “Miscellaneous St” documentary**, the “Look into the Sun” featurette, “Cutting Room Floor,” deleted scenes, two music videos and the original theatrical trailer.
The two-disc package includes a slipcover and will be distributed in the United States and Canada. The release is listed under catalog number TR014-US, with UPC 760137224266.
