Gilbert O’Sullivan, the Irish singer-songwriter behind the classic hits “Alone Again (Naturally),” “Clair” and “Get Down,” has released his new single “It’s Me,” the opening track from his upcoming 21st studio album, On the Record, scheduled for release on November 6, 2026, via BMG. The song arrived on September 18 as O’Sullivan continues his 60 Years of Music tour across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

“It’s Me” explores the importance of supporting the people closest to you. O’Sullivan described the song as having a funky, Steely Dan-inspired sound, highlighting its chord progression and contrasting middle section as reasons for selecting it as the album's opening track.

The 13-track album was produced by Gilbert O’Sullivan alongside Andy Wright, continuing their collaboration on Driven (2022) and Songbook (2024). Recorded with musicians who have worked on O’Sullivan's recent projects, the sessions produced 13 songs in five days. The album was mixed by Tony Hoffer.

On the Record also includes the previously released single “Growing Old Disgracefully,” “No Place Like Home” and “Is That You?,” a duet featuring Andrea Corr of The Corrs. The album follows O’Sullivan's six-decade recording career, which began with his 1970 debut single “Disappear” and produced a series of international hits during the 1970s.
