The country singer reacts to her record-breaking hit as “Choosin’ Texas” surpasses the 22-week reign of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” becoming the longest-running No. 1 song in Hot 100 history
Ella Langley has made Billboard Hot 100 history as her country hit “Choosin’ Texas” spends a record-breaking 23rd week at No. 1 on the chart dated September 26, 2026. The achievement makes it the longest-running No. 1 song in the chart's 68-year history, surpassing Mariah Carey's “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which previously held the record with 22 weeks at the summit.
Langley reacted to the announcement on September 22 by sharing Billboard's chart update on her Instagram Story, accompanied by emotional emojis. “23 weeks,” she wrote. “Absolutely insane.” The singer later shared a video thanking fans for supporting the song and acknowledging the impact its success has had on her career.
Released in October 2025, “Choosin’ Texas” debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November before reaching No. 1 in February 2026. The song has since accumulated 23 nonconsecutive weeks at the top, extending its lead over the previous non-holiday record of 19 weeks held by Shaboozey's “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X's “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
The record-breaking single also finished at No. 1 on Billboard's Songs of the Summer chart for 2026. Co-written by Langley, Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, the song appears on Langley's second studio album, Dandelion, and has established a new benchmark for country music on the all-genre Hot 100.
