Apple Music Hall is set to open on September 28, 2026, inside London's historic Battersea Power Station, introducing a new 600-capacity concert venue equipped for live performances, professional recording and worldwide broadcasts. The facility occupies part of the former power station that famously appeared on the cover of Pink Floyd's 1977 album Animals, connecting one of rock's most recognizable landmarks with Apple's latest expansion into live music.

Announced on September 21, the venue will operate beneath Apple's UK headquarters, offering musicians a dedicated performance space along the River Thames. Its design incorporates exposed brickwork, bronze balconies and architectural elements inspired by the original industrial building, alongside modern recording and broadcasting facilities.

A 600-SEAT CONCERT VENUE WITH SPATIAL AUDIO

The new hall features a 38-foot-wide reconfigurable stage capable of accommodating traditional concerts and performances with audiences positioned around the musicians. A 48-speaker Spatial Audio system surrounds the seating area, allowing artists to present music in an immersive sound environment.

Behind the stage, two dedicated recording and mixing studios will capture performances as multitrack recordings. The venue also supports more than 16 broadcast cameras, including integrated iPhone video capture, enabling musicians to produce professional audio recordings and multicamera concert films directly from the facility.

Apple has confirmed that performances from the hall will be livestreamed internationally, allowing audiences outside London to experience selected concerts. The company has not yet announced the artists scheduled to perform at the opening event or the complete initial concert calendar.

The opening also introduces new Apple Music Radio studios at Battersea Power Station. All London-based Apple Music Radio hosts and programs will broadcast from the facility, bringing artist interviews, music premieres and other programming into the company's new music production complex.

FROM PINK FLOYD'S ANIMALS TO APPLE MUSIC HALL

Battersea Power Station became part of rock history when Pink Floyd selected the London landmark for the cover of their tenth studio album, Animals, released in January 1977. The artwork features an inflatable pig, known as Algie, floating between two of the building's chimneys.

The concept was developed by Roger Waters and realized by the design collective Hipgnosis. The image became closely associated with the album, which includes 揇ogs, 揚igs (Three Different Ones) and 揝heep. In January 1977, the power station also hosted a press launch for the record.

The former coal-fired power station reopened to the public in 2022 following an extensive redevelopment. Apple established its UK headquarters within the complex, bringing its offices to a building that had previously served as one of London's major electricity-generating facilities.

Apple Music Hall also marks the company's return to hosting concerts in London following its earlier iTunes and Apple Music Festival events, which featured artists including Elton John, Lady Gaga and Adele.

The new venue brings live performances, recording technology and international broadcasting together inside a building whose place in music history was established nearly five decades earlier through one of progressive rock's most recognizable album covers.
