The “Choosin’ Texas” collaborators announce a new country duet inspired by classic Western soundtracks, with Lambert’s 12-track album also featuring Chris Stapleton
Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley are joining forces again for “Snakeskin Boots,” the opening track of Lambert’s upcoming studio album, Crisco, arriving October 2, 2026, via MCA. The collaboration will make its world premiere at country radio on the same day as the album's release.
Produced by Lambert alongside Jesse Frasure, “Snakeskin Boots” draws inspiration from late-1960s Western soundtracks and Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang.” The song follows the story of a woman planning her escape, combining cinematic country influences with elements inspired by disco music.
“We wrote ‘Snakeskin Boots’ with Ella in mind. She and I are kindred spirits, and when we were working on her album, I realized how many retro influences we share,” Lambert said in the September 23 announcement. She described the song as a story reminiscent of Thelma & Louise, imagining the two characters escaping together.
The collaboration follows Lambert’s work on Langley’s album Dandelion, which she co-produced and contributed to as a duet partner on “Butterfly Season.” Lambert also co-wrote and co-produced Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” which recently established a new Billboard Hot 100 record by spending 23 weeks at No. 1.
Crisco will feature 12 tracks, including the previously released title song and “A Song To Sing,” Lambert’s collaboration with Chris Stapleton. The album follows her 2024 release, Postcards from Texas, and explores the connections between traditional country music, cinematic songwriting and disco influences.
