The “Cornflake Girl” and “A Sorta Fairytale” singer returns with her second illustrated children’s book, featuring artwork by Demelsa Haughton and a magical story about music, creativity and friendship
Tori Amos has announced her second children's book, A Sorta Fairytale, scheduled for publication on April 6, 2027, through Penguin Workshop, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers. The illustrated book serves as a prequel to her 2025 release Tori and the Muses, returning to the magical world created by the American singer-songwriter and pianist.
Illustrated by Demelsa Haughton, the new story follows a young Tori as she attempts to save the town of Rose Dover from an evil spell cast by Mr. Bad Man. Seeking help from Greg the raccoon and her animal friends in the Emerald Forest, she joins forces with the Muses to build a special pink piano capable of restoring the town's light through music.
The book continues Amos' exploration of imagination and musical inspiration, themes introduced in Tori and the Muses, which was published in March 2025. Her new 40-page illustrated adventure is intended for readers ages 4–8 and will be available in hardcover, ebook and audiobook formats.
The title also recalls “A Sorta Fairytale,” Amos' 2002 single from her album Scarlet's Walk. The original recording received a music video featuring actor Adrien Brody, providing a musical connection to the singer's new literary project.
