Tangerine Records restores the full 1964 Los Angeles concert on two LPs, including “Georgia On My Mind” and “Busted,” with new remastering by Michael Graves and vinyl mastering by Jeff Powell
Ray Charles’ Live in Concert has returned in an expanded two-LP edition restoring the complete 75-minute performance recorded at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on September 20, 1964. The new Tangerine Records release arrived September 25, 2026, alongside CD, digital and streaming editions.
Originally issued in 1965, Live in Concert was shortened substantially to fit a single LP, leaving more than half an hour of the performance unavailable on the original record. The complete concert finally appeared on CD in 2011, including performances of “Georgia On My Mind,” “Busted” and “One Mint Julep” that had been omitted from the 1965 LP.
The 2026 edition presents all 19 tracks across two LPs. Five-time Grammy winner Michael Graves remastered the recording, while Jeff Powell handled the vinyl mastering. The physical edition is presented in gatefold packaging with expanded artwork and liner notes and was produced under the supervision of The Ray Charles Foundation.
The expanded release follows a limited Record Store Day 2026 edition issued earlier this year on Tangerine-colored 180-gram vinyl. That pressing was limited to 900 copies in the United States and also contained the complete concert, making the new edition a broader return of the restored performance rather than the first appearance of the full show on vinyl.
