The release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore makes Swift Spotify’s most-streamed female artist in a single day this year, while “Patient Zero” sets a separate 2026 song record
Taylor Swift has broken two Spotify streaming records for 2026 following the September 25 release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the expanded edition of her 2025 album.
Spotify announced that Swift became the most-streamed female artist in a single day on the platform in 2026. At the same time, her new single “Patient Zero” became Spotify’s most-streamed song by a female artist in a single day this year so far.
The milestones arrived as The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore added four new songs to the original album: “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.” Swift recorded the additional material in Sweden with longtime collaborators Max Martin and Shellback after the original album’s release.
Spotify did not disclose the exact number of streams behind either September 25 record, meaning the achievement currently establishes Swift and “Patient Zero” as the platform’s 2026 leaders in their respective female-artist categories rather than providing a publicly reported streaming total.
The streaming milestone arrives two days before Swift premieres the official “Patient Zero” music video at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27. Directed by Swift, the video stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell and features cinematography by Academy Award winner Emmanuel Lubezki.
Until that video arrives, Swift’s 2025 single “The Fate of Ophelia” provides another example of the visual era surrounding The Life of a Showgirl.
