‘Confessions II’ collects multiple honors as Madonna leads all winners and returns to the VMA stage for her first performance in 23 years
Madonna won seven awards at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27, more than any other artist at this year’s ceremony. Her haul included Artist of the Year as well as multiple honors connected to her 2026 album Confessions II.
Madonna also won Best Collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter for “Bring Your Love,” while Confessions II – The Film took Best Dance, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography and Best Long Form Video. Confessions II additionally won Best Album, completing her seven-award night.
The results followed a field-leading 13 nominations after four social categories were added to the original nominations announced in August. CBS reports that the seven new trophies bring Madonna’s career total to 27 MTV Video Music Awards.
Madonna also opened the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, marking her first VMA performance in 23 years. She performed “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter before being joined by Charli XCX for “Danceteria Afterhours.”
