The Netflix phenomenon has now matched the longest reign in the chart’s 25-year history, with ‘Frozen II,’ ‘Frozen’ and ‘Encanto’ completing an animated-film sweep of the top five
KPop Demon Hunters has tied Moana for the longest run at No. 1 in the history of Billboard’s Top Soundtracks chart, reaching 62 total weeks at the summit. The Netflix animated film’s soundtrack now shares the all-time record with Disney’s Moana, which previously stood alone with 62 weeks at No. 1.
The achievement comes after an extraordinarily consistent chart run. KPop Demon Hunters has spent 62 of its 66 weeks on Top Soundtracks at No. 1, surrendering the top position for only four individual weeks before returning to the summit.
Those interruptions came from Wicked: For Good, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Charli xcx’s Wuthering Heights and Heated Rivalry, each of which replaced KPop Demon Hunters at No. 1 for one week.

The soundtrack’s biggest crossover hit, HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” has been central to that longevity. The song spent eight nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song, while the movie itself became one of Netflix’s biggest entertainment properties.
The milestone also highlights the dominance of animated films on Billboard’s soundtrack ranking. The five albums with the most weeks at No. 1 are now all animated-film soundtracks: KPop Demon Hunters and Moana with 62 weeks each, Frozen II with 51, Frozen with 44 and Encanto with 41.
Billboard launched the Top Soundtracks chart on June 30, 2001, meaning legendary earlier releases such as Saturday Night Fever, Purple Rain, The Sound of Music and West Side Story do not have comparable full career totals on the ranking. The Vince Guaraldi Trio’s 1965 A Charlie Brown Christmas appears because of its chart activity after the ranking was established.

The next chart week could establish a record outright. If KPop Demon Hunters remains at No. 1 for a 63rd week, it will move ahead of Moana and become the longest-leading soundtrack since Billboard introduced the chart more than 25 years ago.
