World-renowned American death metal icons NILE return in 2024 with their highly-anticipated 10th album, The Underworld Awaits Us All, set for release on August 23 via Napalm Records. Known for their technical prowess and unrelenting brutality, this new album pushes NILE to new extremes in both artistry and performance. The lineup includes founding guitarist Karl Sanders, drummer George Kollias, vocalist/guitarists Brian Kingsland and Zach Jeter, and bassist Dan Vadim Von.
Recorded at Sanders' Serpent Headed Studios in Greenville, South Carolina, the album was mixed and mastered by Mark Lewis, who also worked on their previous album, Vile Nilotic Rites.
To celebrate the announcement, NILE has released the first single from the album, "Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down on a Stake in the Underworld and Made to Eat Feces by the Four Apes", accompanied by an official music video. This track, inspired by the Egyptian Book of the Dead, showcases NILE's signature brutal tech-death sound.
Karl Sanders comments: "‘Chapter for Not Being Hung Upside Down’ is one of our favorite tracks on the new record. It's fun to play, challenging, and unpredictable, with an infectiously brutal vibe that will be a blast in the mosh pit. We're thrilled to work with Tom Flynn on the video – he's a visionary with insanely creative ideas."
The Underworld Awaits Us All continues NILE's tradition of blending historical themes with intense metal. Tracks like "Stelae of Vultures" and "To Strike with Secret Fang" showcase their ability to combine technical mastery with powerful storytelling. The album also features standout tracks like "Naqada II Enter the Golden Age" and "Overlords of the Black Earth", which introduce thrash and fusion elements alongside real human choirs.

The album's cover art was created by Micha? 'Xaay' Loranc, reflecting themes of life cycles and judgment.
